MP calls on TSB bosses to reconsider closure of Bearsden branch

The Bearsden branch of the TSB is to close as the bank
announces shutdowns across Scotland.

East Dunbartonshire SNP MP Amy Callaghan says she has
already written to TSB officials after it was revealed the local branch has been marked for closure.

The TSB announced yesterday (Wednesday, September 30)that 73 will shut across
the country with the loss of 900 jobs.

MS Callaghan is calling on TSB bosses to reconsider this move, which she says will have a devastating impact on the local community.

She said: “Businesses across Scotland have been hit hard by coronavirus and the banks are no exception.

“A face-to-face banking service in the local community is essential for my constituents - particularly at a time when many are already feeling isolated.

“I am urging TSB to rethink this reckless decision to close our local branch as a step towards helping our high streets recover from this pandemic.

Constituents can be assured I will fight to keep this branch open.”
