New jobs thanks to pub refurbishment

A Glasgow pub is to be given a fresh new look and a new name as part of a £280,000 investment programme.

The Burrell, on Pollokshaws Road, has temporarily closed its doors to customers as the renovation by national pub company, Punch, gets underway. It will re-open early next month as The Boyd Roderick.

The work involves extensive redecoration throughout and changes to the layout, including an extension of the kitchen. A total of 20 new jobs will be created as part of the investment.

The new-look Boyd Roderick will be operated by Campbell Dickson and Calum Gillies of Caledonian Skye Ltd, which already runs a number of successful outlets including the Caledonian Café and the Portree Hotel on the Isle of Skye.

Manager Kevin Murphy said: “The Boyd Roderick has always had lots of potential and this investment will allow us to transform it in to a stylish pub, serving a range of freshly prepared Scottish produce alongside a selection of quality beers and wines.”
