Citibase, which describes itself as the UK’s leading independent operator of business centres, has transformed New Alderston House into a “state-of-the-art hub”.

The business park is home to 240 companies, including Virgin Media and distillers William Grant, and employs 6,300 people.

Citibase, which has two similar set-ups in Edinburgh, says letting out dozens of offices in unoccupied New Alderston House would be a major boost for the park.

Chief executive Steve Jude said: “This is a prime example of how we can work with landlords to help maximise the potential of their under-utilised office buildings, transforming them into thriving hubs, filled with numerous small businesses that are the engine of the new Scottish economy.

“By providing affordable, flexible and no-hassle office space, we manage all the stress of running an office, allowing our occupier customers to focus on what’s really important – running and growing a successful business.”

Uddingston and Bellshill MSP Richard Lyle welcomed the news and said businesses based there will soon benefit from improved roads links.

Strathclyde Business Park is adjacent to the A725 and close to the A8 Shawhead junction.

Work on the M8 M73 M74 Motorways Improvement Project is due to be completed next spring and Mr Lyle said: “Firms in this area will see new opportunities thanks to the excellent motorway network on their doorstep.

“I welcome investment in the business park, some parts of which need to be refreshed, and am happy to work with those involved. ”
