Persimmon plans for Mayfield Brickworks site given the go ahead
THOUSANDS of bricks will be used to construct a new housing estate in Carluke – on the site where millions were made down the years.
The plans, submitted in February by Persimmon Homes, to build houses on the old Mayfield Brickworks site in Wilton Road were officially given the green light by South Lanarkshire Council’s Planning Committee.
The housing development has finally brought to an end the long history of brickmaking in Carluke and finally wiped away any hopes that a new brickworks would be created on the site.
