Scottish Water to reopen Milngavie road as it also begins survey work in the area

Scottish Water has told residents not to worry about the dye

A stretch of Mugdock Road, from just after Drumclog car park until 600 metres north of the entrance to Drumclog car park, had to be closed in January to allow Caledonia Water Alliance to progress a £30m project to improve services in parts of Bearsden, Milngavie, Clydebank and Strathblane.

Drumclog Car Park remains closed while work in that area continues. Alternative parking is available at Nuffield Health on Strathblane Road.

Meanwhile, Scottish Water carrying out some survey work near the reservoirs in Milngavie from Friday 19 March.

Dye tracing surveys will track the flow of water around the area, the results of which will help inform future improvements.

A brightly coloured dye will be put into drains and watercourses around the Tannoch Loch catchment area, incorporating Glen Road ditch, Dirty Dam, Dirty Ditch and Tannoch Burn.

Scottish Water stated the dye is completely safe. It is food grade, non-irritant, non-toxic and in no way harmful to the environment. It dissipates quickly and leaves no trace.

A spokesperson said: “We want to reassure the public that these surveys are entirely routine, however, we felt that it was important to let people know that they’re being carried out.”

Scottish Water staff will be on hand to reassure any members of the public who notice any discolouration in the Tannoch Loch catchment area.
