Glasgow will always have my heart
Glasgow World chats to presenter and podcaster, Jenni Falconer, who has partnered on FUEL10K's ‘Fuel a Breakfast’ campaign this October - in support of FareShare.
She resides in South London with her husband James Midgley and their daughter Ella, but Milngavie-born presenter Jenni Falconer says Glasgow will always feel like home.
"When I go back to Glasgow, I feel I've gone home. It's so lovely to be in the vibrant city with the buzz and the culture, and the most beautiful architecture. Then within 10 minutes, you can be out in the greenery and within half an hour, the most amazing countryside. My parents live in a remote spot and it's breathtaking, whatever the weather. I try to go back and visit as often as I can, especially to show my daughter Ella her Scottish side."
As well as her successful presenting career, Jenni, 48, is also passionate about her love of running. And she says that Glasgow is where she first found her stride.

"I was about 19 when I started running and my first challenge was to run around the Botanic Gardens without stopping. When I achieved that, I moved on to a new challenge. My granny died when I was 18 but she had lived in the West End and I used to try and run by her old house on my route. Running helps you to discover a city and I feel I know Glasgow so well as a result."
She adds: "I also have a special spot just outside of Glasgow called Queen's View. The landscape is so stunning and you can do a little ten-minute walk or a proper hike. The views are spectacular and I love to go there on my own and get lost in my thoughts."
Jenni - who presents Smooth Breakfast between 6 am and 10 am - tries to follow a healthy diet and sets herself up for the day with a large bowl of porridge. But while the Scottish tradition favours salt, Jenni - who is an ambassador for FUEL10K's 'Fuel a Breakfast' campaign this October - insists she needs something sweet.
"I know salt is the Scottish way but it's just not for me. Maybe one day I'll try. But I like my porridge runny with honey. I have a big bowl every morning and head out for a run when I'm done with my radio show. It fuels me up."

And while London is where her family and her career are, Jenni admits her love for Glasgow means she could never rule out a return.
"My daughter is so settled in London and I have a job that is very based in the capital. But it's such a beautiful part of the world and it's where my heart is. I could never say never!"
