Viral Tiktok star visits Glasgow care home for afternoon of poetry

Taking a break from providing content to her online social following of 66,000 people Emma Armstrong of the Wee Glesga Poet made a visit to Oakbridge Care Home in Glasgow to entertain the residents with renditions of her self-penned poetry including; Hawl Nosey!, Dourfaced, Scheme Dug Millionaire, Peggy McCourt, Dementia, Growin’ up Scottish!
Using her own life experiences and humour, Emma writes and performs poems portraying the reality of Scottish life and has built up a following with one of her viral TikTok videos racking up over 1.2 million views.

Hide AdOakbridge Care Home residents had the pleasure of hearing Emma’s work in person and sharing stories of their own as inspiration for the writer. The visit to the care home is part of Oakbridge Care Home’s commitment to providing stimulating and diverse experiences of its residents as part of its personalised approach to care for residents.
Graham Ross, resident of Oakbridge Care Home said: “I thought the poems were brilliant. They were very entertaining, she gave us all a good laugh. I thought it was lovely to hear all the mentions of different places in Glasgow, and reminisce on the experiences we all had growing up in the city.”
With most of her videos receiving tens of thousands of views, Emma Armstrong has become popular through her unique way of writing about life experiences in Glasgow and how she delivers these poems on social media.
She has recently launched a childrens book called ‘Scheme Dug Millionaire’ which is part of a collection called ‘The WeegieWeans’ that delivers a heartwarming tale about a stray dog on the streets of Glasgow, this book joins her collection of five poetry books already released that feature her most loved poems as well as never-before-heard works.
