The S5 and S6 pupils, who are sitting either Higher or Intermediate Modern Studies, were given the chance to meet James Thorne Erskine, the 14th Earl of Mar and 16th Earl of Kellie, at the school and asked him a variety of different questions ranging from whether or not there should be a second unelected chamber to how would an independent Scotland affect the House of Lords.

Modern Studies teacher April Eadie said: “It was a very successful event and the pupils had a very lively discussion with Lord Mar about his role in the House of Lords.”
