Forth parents hit out at lollipop man loss

The council move to axe popular crossing patrollers David Nimmo and Agnes Gracie from outside Forth Primary School has angered the pupils’ parents.

They see the crossing patrol as vital to helping their children get across the busy Forth Main Street safely.

One of those parents, Lynne Thomson, was so incensed that she set up a Facebook page to campaign against the cuts.

Lynne said: “All the parents are outraged by the council’s decision.

“We have already spoken to Councillor Catherine McClymont because we are so angered by this.

“She told us that because there are traffic lights and a crossing there, the council has said that there is no need for a lollipop man.

“But Forth Main Street is a very busy road.

“It’s a main trunk road with cars, vans and lorries going through there.

“The kids feel safe when David or Agnes are there.”
