The children travelled to Nether Affleck Farm, near Lanark, where farmer Jim Baird gave the P2 and P3 children a tour around the premises.

High Mill head teacher Marion Girdwood said the pupils loved every minute of it, adding: “The children are doing a farming topic in class so it was a great thrill for them to be taken around a real life farm.

“Their favourite part was seeing the calves and two New Zealand pigs which were there.”
