Hillhead Primary School praised for going the extra mile for pupils

Parents have praised staff at Hillhead Primary School in Kirkintilloch for “going above and beyond” for families during the coronavirus crisis.

As the official school term came to a close last week for the summer holidays, the headteacher James Friel was also singled out for special recognition.

Local mum Louise Mulvay of Hillhead Primary School Parents and Teachers Association, said: “The school deserved to be recognised and praised for their efforts over this difficult time.

“Even for the new Primary 1’s – their teacher and deputy head went out to every home to deliver a special primary one pack, while the headteacher hand-delivered everyone’s end of year report cards.”

To round off the term on Thursday, teachers and support staff did a special drive by through the streets of Hillhead to say goodbye to pupils
who would be heading to
secondary school after the holidays.

Louise said: “They covered their cars in balloons and streamers and their car horns could be heard all over the area.

People need to know about this positivity. Since the new headteacher took over, the school has changed in so many ways for the better.”
