Kildrum Primary head in awards trio list

Three years ago Kildrum Primary pupils cheered as a mass of blue and white (school colours) balloons were released to celebrate a glowing HMIE inspector’s report.

Now they may soon have a new cause for celebration if headteacher Myra Lindsay is awarded the top award of its kind in the whole country.

Her record of achievement has seenher listed as one of just three from across Scotland to be listed as a contender for Head Teacher of the Year - which is itself seen as a major achievement.

In 2011, in the wake of the HMIE report, Ms Lindsay said of Kildrum: “I am delighted with the outcome of the inspection as it reinforces that Kildrum is a very good school, and in some areas, is outstanding.”

The special award recognises headteachers who “provide inspirational leadership, who motivate and involve staff, children and young people across the school, bringing learning to life, and inspiring all to fulfil their potential.
