Lanark Grammar parents upset by Man Utd ticket draw

ALTHOUGH the result left many Manchester United fans heaving a sigh of relief, last week’s big European tie against Bayern Munich was a big letdown for some Lanark Grammar pupils.

A mum of one of these pupils this week heavily criticised the school for the way it organised the selection of pupils to go on an organised trip to the game at Old Trafford.

The mum, who did not want to be named, claimed she was just one of 12 parents who had complained to the school.

The mum said: “My son is Manchester United daft and was the first in the queue at the school office the morning the tickets went on sale.

“He was told that, because he was so early going for an allocation, he’d certainly be getting a ticket and he was over-the-moon.”

However, after the school got an unexpected extra allocation of tickets, it was decided that, instead of ‘first-come-first-served’, there would be a draw for them.

Almost needless to say, the mum’s son wasn’t one of the lucky names drawn from the hat, leaving her fuming and her son badly upset.

School head teacher Mark Sherry said: “We understand the great disappointment which pupils unsuccessful in securing a ticket will be feeling but we are restricted by ticket allocation, over which we have no control.”
