New College wins top honours

New College Lanarkshire has won the highest grade possible in a review by Education Scotland.

It published its first findings on the institution, which is a merger between Cumbernauld, Motherwell and Coatbridge colleges.

It was rated “effective”, the highest award for colleges, and was praised for the strong quality culture.

College principal Martin McGuire said: “I’m delighted that Education Scotland has captured the ethos and culture of the college so well and that the commitment of our staff to our learners is clearly recognised.”

Linda McTavish, who chairs the Lanarkshire regional board said: “This is a fantastic endorsement for the college and I am thankful to everyone who has worked so hard to achieve this.”
