South Lanarkshire Council has NOT banned MTV

SOUTH Lanarkshire Council has NOT followed its near neighbour and banned MTV from schools because of raunchy music videos.

Several national newspapers had reported at the start of the week that both North and South Lanarkshire Councils had banned the channel from use in classrooms, common-rooms and the internet where pupils could listen to recent chart hits from the likes of teenage ‘twerker’ Miley Cyrus and the always controversial Robin Thicke.

However, these reports were rubbished by the local authority spokeswoman who told the Gazette that Clydesdale kids did not have access to the channel during school hours in the first place.

She said: “We are not aware of any schools in the South Lanarkshire area who have access to MTV.”
