“This inspection was carried out under Education Scotland’s new inspection framework, which places higher expectations on schools and nurseries. So for Giffnock to receive such a glowing report is testament to the hard work of the pupils, staff, parents and wider school community who all work closely to ensure the school and nursery continue to go from strength to strength.”

Giffnock Primary headteacher Rob Lawson added: “I am delighted with the outcome of this inspection, which makes it clear that children attending Giffnock Primary and Nursery Class are being supported to learn and achieve their very best. It’s especially pleasing that the report praises the children for being confident, courteous and articulate – all of our pupils really are a credit to our school and their parents.

“I look forward to working closely with all the staff to continue improving our school and nursery to the benefit of all children and young people.”

The inspection team also identified two areas for improvement, which includes the requirement for staff to ensure all initiatives carried across the school are directed towards raising attainment and achievement for all children.

Staff have also been tasked with ensuring all pupils are appropriately challenged and make every effort to involve children in leading their own learning in order to maximise outcomes for all.

An action plan has now been set out by the school to address the agreed areas for improvement.
