It is scheduled to open in summer 2022 with, says the council, development adhering to all relevant Scottish Government and Public Health guidance during the current health crisis.

The application was lodged by the Council through architects Ryder and the project also includes outdoors sports spaces, car parking and landscaping.

Joint Leader of the Council, Councillor Vaughan Moody, said: “This decision by the Planning Board allows us to move forward with delivering a state-of-the-art new secondary school to replace the existing Boclair Academy within Bearsden. This is welcome news for the school and the local community.”

Joint Leader of the Council, Councillor Andrew Polson added, “Many of Boclair’s current pupils, and those still to come, can now look forward to learning in a fantastic building that is fit-for-purpose.

“This will greatly enhance the educational experience for all who attend now and in the future.”

It is hoped work can begin in the October break and continue until Christmas, with the main works start in January.

Earlier this year, Ryder said building materials had been selected to complement the sandstone and facing brick of neighbouring historic villas and the listed Kilmardinny House.
