Downturn in covid cases in East Dunbartonshire after recent local lockdown restrictions

The local lockdown restrictions placed on East Dunbartonshire earlier in the month seem to be having an effect.

The latest figures indicate a downturn between September 12-18, with 25 cases per 100,000 people and 27 positive cases.

By comparison, in the previous week September 6-12, there were 45 cases per 100,000 people in East Dunbartonshire and a total of 49 positive cases, up 13 from the previous week.

However, this is still above the Scottish average, which now stands at 20 per 100,000 people.

It’s also a different picture in neighbouring West Dunbartonshire where cases are still rising – with 81 cases per 100,000 people in the latest week and 72 positive cases in total – a rise of 17 from the previous week.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon will address the Scottish Parliament at 2.20pm today (Tuesday). Ms Sturgeon will make a 20-minute speech before taking questions for 40 minutes.

The speech will be broadcast live on the Scottish government Twitter page, which you can still watch even if you don’t have a Twitter account.

The First Minister will make a TV address at about 8.05pm, on BBC Scotland, just after Prime Minister Boris Johnson makes a similar television statement at 8pm on the measures he is planning to impose on England.
