Palacerigg now off-limits to motorists

Car parking facilities at Palacerigg Country Park are closed as from yesterday (Tuesday) at 7am.

Walkers and nature lovers have been dealt a blow after it emerged that access to Palacerigg Country Park has been restricted for motorists.

North Lanarkshire Council’s leisure trust confirmed that the amentity’s car parking facilities are shut for the forseeble future.

The car park is particularly popular -given the long distance that many park users must travel from the town to enjoy this remote amenity.

However it stressed that access for pedestrians and cyclists would be maintained.

A trust spokesman said that the parking restrictions were being taken in line with national guidelines over Coronavirus.

It was stated too that they also affect Strathclyde Park in Motherwell and Drumpellier Country Park in Coatbridge.
