Remembrance Sunday commemoration cancelled in Cumbernauld Village

Cumbernauld’s branch of the Royal British Legion have been in touch after its members were left with no choice but to cancel a key event.

And sadly, it involves day where lost comrades are solemnly honoured in a wider public display.

Last week they stated that they will not hold their traditional Remembrance Day commemoration which culminates in a moving service - which draws both ex-military personnel and civilians who wish to pay tribute.

The branch’s Peter Cullen confirmed: “Following advice, the Royal British Legion will not be holding an official Remembrance Day Parade this year at the Cumbernauld Village Cenotaph.

“We would ask legion members and members of the public not to attend the cenotaph due to the Government restrictions on social gatherings.

“We sincerely apologise, but as they say ‘We’ll meet again’ - next year.”
