Told by the NHS she’d need to drop from a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 33 to a healthier 30 to receive a referral for fertility treatment, Aussie-now-Milngavie resident Hayley Angell (32) seized the opportunity to approach weight loss in a different way.

And now she is on a quest to inspire woman and men of all shapes, sizes and fitness levels to get up, get out and have fun with fitness this winter.

She said: “I’ve been a curvy girl all my life and am the first to admit I’ve associated health and fitness with self-conscious gym visits and monotonous miles ran in the cold and dark. I’ve viewed weight loss as somehow ‘missing out’ or ‘giving up’ on the things I enjoy most.

“It’s time for an attitude shift and I’m determined to have more fun losing the weight than I did putting it on!

She will try roller-skating at RollerStop’s first ever ‘Fitsco’, high octane trampoline fitness under the instruction of a British Trampolining Champion at Air Space East Kilbride, Krav Maga, a self-defence system created for the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF), and an epic six-hour full scale introductory climbing certification at Glasgow Climbing Centre.

Suzie Beith, manager of retro-fabulous skating haven RollerStop welcomed Hayley to try the centre’s new roller skating fitness programme, launching to the public later this month.

Ms Beith said: “We were thrilled to have Hayley join in our first ever Roller Fitsco! Everyone really seemed to enjoy the mix of roller disco and basic aerobics on eight wheels.”
