The group will use the funding to continue delivery of its‘Older People’s Active Lives’ project. This project allows older, lonely and isolated people in the wider Cumbernauld area to continue living in their own homes. It also provides them with a comprehensive range of activities to reduce isolation and promote health.

Activities will include arts and crafts, reminiscence workshops, recreational activities complemented by men’s sheds, monthly tea dances and trips and outings.

Meanwhile, CACE and Local Consortium have answered the Scottish Government’s consultation on loneliness and social isolation.

Raymond Taylor, health and social care manager - North Locality, hosted an event at Freedom City Church which was attended by 55 people from the local community with involvement of NHS Health Improvement Team, Alzheimer Scotland, VANL, North Lanarkshire Council and other third sector organisations.

The event was extremely successful and participants were happy to share their thoughts and experience.

The report from the event with all discussion notes will be send to Scottish Government.

CACE’s next tea dance will take place tomorrow (Thursday) from 1-3.30pm in the Royal British Legion.
