Residents show appreciation to Motherwell ambulance crews

Residents of Excelsior Gardens in Motherwell showered local ambulance crews with gifts for their hard work during the Covid-19 crisis.

DJ Richard Isherwood has been playing music from his garage every Saturday and Sunday from 4-4.30pm during lockdown, taking requests via the Resident’s Facebook page.

Over the weeks a number of ambulances have driven past at this time getting a round of applause from those listening to the music.

Fellow resident Robert Park decided to organise a collection to buy a small gift for staff at the Scottish Ambulance Service’s Range Road depot. He put a post on theFacebook page and collected £1250.

After liaising with local staff, Robert and Richard visited Range Road to hand over a 55” Samsung Smart TV, Amazon Firestick, coffee machine, two microwaves, two toasters, an inscribed clock, cutlery, crockery and drinks for all staff.

Lindsay Kerr, area service manager for Motherwell, said: “We are overwhelmed by the generous gift from the local Excelsior residents.

“The team at Motherwell Ambulance Station have been working really hard over the last few months and this kind donation has been well received by all the staff, including our paramedics, technicians, ambulance care Assistants and mechanics.

“We have been uplifted by all the community spirit and goodwill we have experienced recently. We are also are grateful for people staying at home over the last number of weeks and protecting the NHS.”
