Detailed plans are being put in place to reopen libraries in East Dunbartonshire

Mark Grant, General Manager, East Dunbartonshire Leisure and Culture (EDLC) Trust, said: “The health and safety of our customers and staff is of primary importance and we will only begin to reinstate services when it is safe to do so.

“Our recovery planning is based on the Scottish Government and Public Health Scotland advice and guidance which was issued on 14 July.

“Staff are now in the detailed planning stages for libraries in East Dunbartonshire, to ensure we can offer a safe and meaningful service.

“In line with other library services across Scotland, libraries will not be able to open with a full range of services for some time and a restricted borrowing service, known as “Connect and Collect” is currently being planned for in the coming weeks.

“Connect and Collect will allow library members to select books in advance and collect them from a controlled customer collection point, where strict safety measures will be in place.

“We also have a growing collection of over 1800 eBooks and 600 eAudiobooks available for free to members online and can provide help for anyone wanting to join or who is struggling to access the online service.”
