A whole lot of Shakespeare

The Reduced Shakespeare Company is a three-man comedy troupe and they promise just that — all 37 plays in 97 minutes.

The group’s first three shows — The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged), The Complete History of America (abridged) and The Bible: The Complete Word of God (abridged) — had a nine-year run at the Criterion Theatre in Piccadilly Circus in London.

Not only have they achieved London’s longest-running shows, at one point they even had more shows running in the West End than Andrew Lloyd Webber.

The troupe laughingly warn that the show is not for “people with heart ailments, bladder problems, inner-ear disorder, outer-ear disorder, Shakespearian scholars, degrees in Elizabethan history and/or people inclined to motion sickness”.

The show is a laugh-out-loud romp through the great Bard’s plays — both comedy and tragedy. Since its inception in 1981, the RSC has created eight stage shows, two television specials, several failed television pilots and numerous radio pieces.
