Annabelle is next Wee Gig star

VERSATILE Canadian singer-songwriter Annabelle Chvostek is the latest international star to star in this year’s Wee Gig series of concerts.

Annabelle is an acclaimed nominated singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based out of Toronto and Montreal and has been nominated for a series of Juno Awards, Canada’s version of The Brits.

Between 1997 and 2004, she released three independent albums and an EP, toured Europe and performed across North America with artists like Po’Girl, Rae Spoon and Barlywick.

In her two and a half years with the Jennys, Annabelle earned herself Juno nominations for Best Roots and Best Traditional Album.

In 2007, she left the Jennys and reprised her solo career, releasing what many see as her solo debut, Resilience, in 2008.

Resilience was nominated for a Canadian Folk Music Award for Contemporary Album of the Year and became the second most-played Canadian album on US folk radio at the start of 2009.

Since the album’s release, Chvostek has done yearly tours of the UK and is looking forward to returning to Scotland.

Annabelle Chvostek will be appearing at Abington Village Hall on Saturday, May 16, at 8pm.
