Biggar Sports and Music Festival to get kids moving

A UNIQUE event aimed at bringing music and sport together in one day is due to be held in Clydesdale.

The Biggar Sports and Music Festival will take place at the town’s Showfield with the aim of dragging youngsters away from their Playstations and X-Boxes and into either sport or music – or both!

Several local sports clubs will be in attendance and activities will include beat-the-celebrity-goalkeeper, archery, paintball, dodgeball, pitch ‘n putt and much, much more. Add to that musical performances throughout the day from local artists such as Dave Gibb, Jack Hinks, and Big Dave and The Gnomes and it should be a great day out for the whole family.

The event is being organised by the non-profit-making Music Events Clydesdale, with all the proceeds going to Biggar Gala Committee.

Organiser Jim Duncan, who will also be performing tracks from his new album Roadshow in the evening, said: “It gives the public the chance to check out all the local sports organisations in one place and get to enjoy live music at the same time.”

The Biggar Sports and Music Festival, organised by Music Events Clydesdale, will take place on Saturday, October 6, from 10am to 10pm.

Tickets cost £5 for adults, £2 for under 16s with OAPs and children under five gaining free entry.

Tickets for the evening’s music event, featuring Jim Duncan and support, cost £10.
