Carluke Primrose set for annual concert

MEMBERS of Carluke Primrose Orchestral Flutes will be delighting locals with their 32nd annual concert later this week.

The concert, which takes place on Saturday at Carluke Lifestyles Centre, will be the last in charge for conductor John Bryce, who is taking a well deserved break after 18 years in charge.

During that time the orchestra has won the Scottish Championship in all but one of his years as conductor and orchestra secretary Stuart Laird knows whoever steps into the breach will have big shoes to fill.

He said: “John has been our conductor for the past 18 years. We have been so successful and he’s been a big part of that.

“We all hope that he returns from his break and continues to be part of Carluke Primrose. I’m sure he will still be involved, as he was a tremendous solo player for us before he became conductor.”
