CARS scheme funds Leadhills improvements

IMPROVEMENTS to buildings in Leadhills have been completed thanks to the £800,000 Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme (CARS) launched four years ago with joint backing from South Lanarkshire Council and Historic Scotland.

One beneficiary is Leadhills Main Street resident Andy Foley, who landed a grant of around £15,000 for essential roof repairs and new double-glazed windows at his family’s 120-year-old end-terrace two-storey cottage.

“Our property badly needed this work done,” said Andy.
