Elements of Dance starred 143 girls from Celia’s Lanark-based school and celebrated not only the various elements of dance routines such as Highland and tap but also the classic elements too.

Celia said: “It was an absolutely fantastic show; it was our first show for two years and it was great to be back in the Memo.

“All the girls did very well; in fact they were quite exceptional. The feedback that we got from the audience was that they would have been happy to watch the whole show again which is a great compliment to the girls.

“It was a great spectacle and we are delighted to have raised such a lot of money.”

Six charities will benefit from the two sold-out shows and although the official total has still to be confirmed, Celia told the Gazette that it would amount to at least £4,000.

The charities which will benefit are Action Medical Research, The Breast Care Unit at Wishaw General Hospital, the Lanark branch of Friends of Guiding, the Duke of Edinburgh Awards Scheme at Lanark Grammar, Friends of Lockhart Hospital and the Cargill House Club.

Celia would like to thank her fellow dance teachers and the small army of volunteers who helped make the show such a success.
