Chance to see behind doors

TOURIST attractions across Cumbernauld, Kilsyth and Croy are preparing for the annual Doors Open Day, which takes place on Saturday and Sunday, September 8 and 9.

TOURIST attractions across Cumbernauld, Kilsyth and Croy are preparing for the annual Doors Open Day, which takes place on Saturday and Sunday, September 8 and 9.

Several organisations across Cumbernauld and Kilsyth will be taking part in the event.

In Croy, the community centre, off Nethercroy Road, will be running activities from 11.30am to 5pm over the two days.

The makers of Irn Bru AG Barr will open up Westfield House, tickets only, while Cumbernauld Fire Station, Kildrum Parish Church and Sacred Heart Church will be running activities.

Cumbernauld Fire Station on Greenfaulds Road will be open over the two day event from 10.30am to 5pm while Kildrum Parish Church on 1 Clouden Road hosts its activities on Saturday from 11am to 3pm.

Sacred Heart Church on Kyle Road welcomes visitors on Sunday from 10.30am to 5pm, with services taking place at 9am, 10.30am and 5.30am.

Kilsyth Community Council hope locals come to the Colzium House on Stirling Road to view the heritage museum, visit the walled garden and take part in a guided walk through the estate.

The guided walk by Paul Carter will take place from 2pm to 3pm each day, and soup and snacks will be available.

Kilsyth Burns and Old Parish Church in Church Street opens its doors on the Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 4pm and will offer a whole host of activities, and Sunday service will be on at the usual time of 11am to noon.

St Patrick’s Church on 30 Low Craigends is also hosting events from 9am to 5pm - although Sunday service takes place 11am to noon.
