Coalburn cheerleaders get best ever results

HAPPENDON woman Samantha Brisbane looked on with immense pride as her talented young students – including her 10-year-old daughter Abbie Brown and fellow Coalburn Primary pupil Nicole Struthers (also 10) – achieved their dance school’s best cheerleading results ever.

Watching the girls aged six to 18 compete at the prestigious Scotcheer national competition in the SECC, Samantha saw them win six titles and scoop two seconds, two thirds and one fifth place.

Samantha (38), the school’s owner and head coach, said: “It was the biggest competition we’d ever entered and the girls did fantastically well against opposition from elsewhere in Scotland, England and Wales.”
