Don’t miss the Blue Bishops in Lanark

ROCK and blues fans in Clydesdale of a certain age would have given the denim shirt off their backs to have seen bands like The Animals, Wishbone Ash or Argent playing in their 1960s and 1970s heydays.However, as the old saying goes, all good things come to those who wait!And it’s sure to be an event WELL worth waiting for when, on Saturday night at Lanark Agricultural Centre, some of the best veteran bluesmen in the country take to the stage.Former members of each of the one-time megabands mentioned above have now come togeher in what would have been called a Supergroup ‘back in the day’, namely The Blue Bishops.They will be ably backed by locally-provided support bands Epic and The Mazdas in a concert organised by Music in Lanark.The shows starts at 7pm and tickets are £10, available at the door or via Music in Lanark’s website.

And it’s sure to be an event WELL worth waiting for when, on Saturday night at the Lanark Agricultural Centre, some of the best veteran bluesmen in the country take to the stage to prove they can still rip out the riffs and kick out the jams like they did way back when Rod Stewart was still single and Mick Jagger needed moisturiser rather than Polyfilla.

The London-based combo- calling at Lanark during a tour of the country, not only bring back happy rocking memories for audience members of their own vintage but also provide something of a masterclass for young musicians and blues fans of how to really do the business onstage, using sheer experience and skill to impress, entertain and thrill with a live performance.

In the happy position of being on stage with some of their own idols will be the locally-provided support bands Epic and The Mazdas.

The former is a new blues group put together by well-kent Lanark accountant and muso Graeme McLeish.

The Mazdas are the highly popular ‘house band’ of that notorious bunch of wild-living rockers, The Rotary Club of Lanark!

It will mark The Mazdas debut of their very latest recruit, Dr Bill Criggie on rhythm guitar.

Said Graeme of the show’s promoters, Music in Lanrk: “Obviously this is a big departure from their usual offerings and therefore might appeal to a totally different type of punter.”
