Farmers’ Wives Choir to perform at Glasgow Hydro
AFTER several rounds of weekly rehearsals – often held at Lanark Auction Market – members of the first Farmers’ Wives Choir are raring to perform on stage this Saturday, November 30.
Glasgow’s Hydro Arena is the venue for a concert marking the 75th anniversary of the Scottish Association of Young Farmers Clubs. Farmers’ Wives Choir’s 10 minutes on stage will see them perform the songs Fields of Gold, How Can I Keep From Singing? and Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.
Choir mistress Kate Picken (53), a farmer’s wife and music teacher, said: “I was asked back in May if I’d like to come along and take the first Farmers’ Wives Choir and I was delighted to accept this offer.”
