Charley (5) has always been proud of her long hair but now she is going to have it cut off to be made into a wig for a child with cancer.

“She has always had long hair,” said her mum, Suzanne.

“But she saw a girl doing this on TV and said ‘I want to do that’.”

Charley’s locks will go to the Little Princess Trust, a charity which provides real hair wigs for girls – and boys – who have lost their own hair through cancer.

Her gift is all the more poignant as Suzanne’s cousin died of leukaemia, aged seven.

Her locks will be chopped on February 27.

Charley, who will be a flower girl in Forth Gala Court this summer, is also raising funds for the charity, and has set a target of £500.
