First Look: Japanese soufflé pancakes are coming to Shawlands

The brunch cafe scene of the Southside has a new arrival as popular Japanese trend reaches Shawlands.

KoKo House brought wee, light, fluffy soufflé pancakes and bubble teas to the West End when they opened in 2020, just off Byres Road on Great George Street. Now Shawlands has a taste of the Japanese food trend as KoKo opens on Pollokshaws Road. They say: “We’re excited to announce our new opening in Shawlands. Pop in for some freshly made soufflé pancakes and bubble teas.” The new cafe is opened from 11am to 6.30pm and may open later in the future. It’s kitted out in the same style as the West End original with the same menu of signature pancakes. Have a look below at what you can expect.

Japanese souffle pancakes are known for their fluffy and airy texture compared to more traditional pancakes. Eating them has been compared to biting into a cloud. The menu also includes iced lattes, hot savoury crepes, filled baguettes, milk or fruit bubble tea, milkshakes and cakes.
