After the sudden news that Metropolitan Bar & Restaurant on Candleriggs is to close its doors, we wanted to take a look back at the restaurants and bars in and around Glasgow which have also closed their doors in 2024.
A recent report by the the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce showed that over 400,000 less visitors are spending less time in the city centre which comes against the backdrop of challenging conditions for hospitality in Glasgow.

17. Doner Haus Glasgow
Döner Haus at the corner of West Regent Street and West Nile Street closed their doors back in April 2024 having been open in the city centre since 2017. The restaurant was a hit with locals as they served up authentic Berlin kebabs, currywurst and steins of German beer. | Doner Haus Glasgow
18. Barburrito
Barburrito near Glasgow Central station was one of the first Glasgow restaurant closures at the beginning of the year. Customers were met with a sign on the door saying the premises had closed. | Barburrito
