Fruitful crop of successes for Biggar Orchard

THERE’S a business in Biggar which doesn’t just take the biscuit when it comes to winning awards – it takes the whole bakery!

The Orchard, based in the town’s High Street, is in serious danger of running out of room for its vast range of homemade goodies because of all the trophies owners Ranald and Jane Brown have been bringing back from catering contests recently.

In fact, the latest honour to be paid to the independent business came at the regional heats of the Scottish Baker of the Year Awards where its Empire Biscuit and Steak Pie entries landed The Orchard a place in the top three, automatically qualifying it to go on to the national finals of the competition.
