Cosgrove Care has been awarded funding from the National Lottery to deliver an exciting new heritage project.

The charity has received a £10,000 cash boost for The Burns Heritage Project which will see the charity work with young people with additional needs helping them learn about Robert Burns through poetry, music, dance and art and to explore Burns country.

The project will culminate in performances and exhibitions showcasing the young people’s interpretation and learning.

Heather Gray, chief executive of Cosgrove said: “Cosgrove Care are delighted to have been awarded National Lottery Funding. This is a great opportunity for young people with additional needs to learn about their Scottish heritage and culture and to showcase their talents.

“We are excited to have received heritage lottery funding to work with others to create new experiences and opportunities for young people with additional needs.”

Seona Reid, Heritage Lottery Fund Scotland chairman, on behalf of the Scottish National Lottery distributors said: “Congratulations to all of the successful groups sharing in £474,900 of National Lottery funding to celebrate Scotland’s Year of Young People. This funding will support projects that put young people front and centre in developing and running activities that encourage them to lead active healthy lives and improve their health, well-being and confidence.

“I am looking forward to hearing about the amazing feats they will accomplish over the coming months.”
