Handel’s Messiah comes to Broughton

CLASSICAL music lovers in Clydesdale are in for a treat in the run-up to Christmas as the ever popular Handel’s Messiah comes to Broughton.

The event, organised by Broughton Choral Society, will take place on Saturday, December 8, and will form part of the society’s Christmas concert.

Christopher Lambton, from the society, said: “Handel’s Messiah is indisputably the most popular oratorio in the English language.

“It’s also probably the longest, which can make a complete performance something of an endurance test for singers and audience alike.”

Broughton Choral Society’s Christmas concert is on Saturday, December 8, at 7.30pm in Broughton Village Hall.

Tickets, priced £7 (£5 concs), are available from choir members, Broughton Village Stores or by calling 07879 470920.
