Hardy Boys back on the scene

The band — David Douglas McArthur, Paul McArthur, Karlyn King, Derek Mullen and Johnny White — are out to promote their new album, British Melancholy.

The Hardy Boys have been around the block a bit.

They formed in Greenock in 1985 and toured extensively between then and 1990, releasing a classic 12-inch single on the Shrewsbury label, Stella Five, before splitting up.

However, interest in the band never waned – rather, it grew and grew.

Indeed, that one single started swapping hands on eBay for in excess of £300.

From then, songs began appearing on the internet and were exchanged on indie sites.

The word went around that The Hardy Boys were one of the great lost bands of the C86 era and that the quality of their songs dwarfed many of their better-known contemporaries.

Some have even said they are a Scottish Smiths.
