Heavy metal fans to rock the Clyde Valley

HARD rock and heavy metal fans in Clydesdale are in for a treat this summer - as a new festival hits the Clyde Valley.

The festival, dubbed Les Fest, as it was supposed to be held in Lesmahagow, will instead by held at Valley international Park on June 29 and 30 and is Scotland’s only festival dedicated solely to rock and metal.

The man behind the festival is David Ritchie.

He said: “In a nutshell, it all started because my son is 18 and is in a band and he and all his friends are always going into Glasgow to play so I thought it would be a great idea to have something in this area where they could play.

“Originally the plan was supposed to have something in Lesmahagow as that’s where I am from, but it just wasn’t possible and the advantage of having it at Valley International Park is that there will be camping available even though the music will be indoors.”

As well as local bands such as Dana O’Hara and LlamaFunkSnarf, there are also bands coming from across the UK such as Kyrb Grinder, who hail from London and Inferno, from Liverpool.

Other acts already confirmed include Dirty Rose, Let’s Play God and all-girl group The Amarettes with more bands still to be confirmed.
