Humpff Family frontman to perform at Twa Corbies

Friday’s entertainment at the Twa Corbies takes a slightly more folksy turn.

Humpff Family frontman John Coletta will be performing alongside the Folk’n Skunk Eaters.

With the Scottish Folk-a-Billy band the Humpff Family, John Coletta released two CDs on the Iona Gold label, while his solo gigs have been compared to a Celtic version of They Might be Giants or a bluegrass Jake Thackory.

Expect a mixture of old songs and new, with John playing mandolin or guitar, a bit of harmonica and unusual lyrics. John recently released his third solo CD, Living in Hope, which has seen a fair bit of airtime of late.

John also has forthcoming gigs at the Belladrum Festival 2011 and Lanark Connections 2011, in addition to this forthcoming appearance in Cumbernauld.

Local music promoter Jock Barnson commented: “This should be one of the best nights yet, and I’m really pleased with the Corbies revival. Word is getting out.”

The gig on Friday ( July 22) starts 8pm and entry is just £3.
