The Gazette understands that, only months after its formation, the new Lanark Heritage and Tourist Group has been quietly killed off and its functions merged into the South Lanarkshire Council-controlled Lanark Town Group.

This group, reported the Gazette earlier this year, itself looked on the verge of disbandment, its meetings becoming less frequent and attendance by council officials becoming rarer.
