Jen will have her head shaved for two good causes

YOUNG mum Jennifer Crighton has a head of hair to be proud of – but she is going to sacrifice it all for a good cause.

And she hopes to be able to help two charities – Macmillan Cancer Support with her sponsorship, and the Little Princess Trust which could use her hair to help make wigs for children.

Jennifer (36) from Auchengray, has raised thousands for Macmillan over the last three years.

She and her sister Rachel Johnston have run the well-known Largest Coffee Morning days, in memory of their own mum Iris Black, who died of ovarian cancer in 1995 when she was only 46.

Macmillan nurses supported the family and helped the girls, then aged 17 and 23, get through some of the hardest days.

And Macmillan offered support again when their father had treatment.

Now Jennifer is hoping to raise £2000 by having her head shaved, in a Shave of Style challenge.

And she is surprised at the reaction when she tells people about it.

“I am quite bewildered by people saying, ‘That’s amazing; have some money’. It is the easiest thing I will ever do,” said Jennifer.

As she points out, hair grows back!

The head shave, which will leave the mum-of-three completely bald, will be carried out by Peter from the Director’s Box in Lanark, in Auchengray Church Hall, on Saturday March 28 and there will be stalls there too on the day.
