Kilsyth looks forward to Christmas lights switch-on

KILSYTHIANS won’t be able to help but get in the Christmas spirit with a host of festive events scheduled to take place in the town.

The fun begins on Saturday when Santa visits the town centre to switch on the Christmas lights.He’ll be in his grotto from 1.30pm until 4pm, before the switch-on at around 4.15pm.

Children will also be able to take part in a range of arts and crafts activities.

A Sports Skills day has been arranged by the Croy Miners’ Welfare Charitable Society on Saturday, November 19.

A team from the centre will guide kids through a number of fun activities at various locations on Main Street between 12pm and 4pm.

The following week, Saturday, November 26, Santa will pay yet another visit to Kilsyth where he will be in his Grotto from 1pm until 3pm.

There will also be Christmas craft stalls for those looking to pick up some unique gifts.

The bandstand in Burngreen will host some music and dance- based entertainment on the Saturdays of December 3 and 10. Full details will be released shortly.

Finally, the festivities finish off with the annual Kilsyth Rotary Club Carol Concert, which will take place at the Burngreen bandstand from 6pm on Friday, December 16.

Hot soup and drinks will be provided by Kilsyth and Villages Community Forum.

It is hoped that the extended programme will encourage people to support their town centre and local businesses.
