Gazette readers will be familiar with the Armadale Road resident’s fine charity running record, having raised £15,000 for the Anthony Nolan Trust by taking part in seven London Marathons.

Now, at the age of 55, he’s decided that it’s high time the next generation of McCulloch marathon runners got involved, namely his daughter, 22-year-old politics and psychology graduate Eilidh.

He explained: “I’d already entered the 2014 London Marathon when, at Christmas, the Anthony Nolan Trust phoned to ask if I wanted them to enter me in the event as one of their designated runners.

“I told them that I’d already entered and was doing it again for their charity.

“They then asked if I knew of anyone else who’d like to take part for the Trust – so I gave them Eilidh’s name!”

And Wendy Kerr, who works at the market, has also signed up now.
