Lanark harpist Elinor rounds off music season

MUSIC in Lanark hosts its last concert of the series this Saturday, March 28, when Lanark girl Elinor Nicholson returns home to perform an evening of harp music.

Elinor is well known for her playing – and she has in the past performed for Music in Lanark in one of the slots the club allocates to young local musicians.

Elinor has recently graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.

She was inspired to begin learning clarsach (Scottish Celtic harp) at the age of ten when a short workshop was given to her.

She followed that by studying clarsach with acclaimed Celtic harpist and composer Savourna Stevenson.

Elinor was also principal harpist of the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland for two years and during the NYOS 2012 summer tour, she took part in a joint concert with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall as part of the Proms season.

Elinor is passionate about chamber music and has formed duos performing with flute, saxophone and voice. The concert is at the Institute, New Lanark, this Saturday at 7.45pm.
