Lanarkian Ron (27) met the Britpop legend backstage at the Royal Albert Hall last month.

He took the opportunity to tell Noel that he had recorded his own single, along with pals from Motherwell College, to raise funds for the charity.

Ron, who lives in Hyndford Road, was invited to the gig, which also featured Echo & The Bunnymen and Scottish legends Primal Scream, after losing one of his eyes when he was diagnosed with ocular melanoma – a form of eye cancer - in 2009.

And it was a night that he, and friend Matthew McConnell, Definitely Maybe won’t forget.

Ron said: “After Noel had introduced Primal Scream, 12 of us got the chance to meet him.

“He was a gentleman and I had a good conversation with him; I’m a big Oasis fan so I was pretty starstruck.”
