Lanark’s Wallace Day takes place this Saturday
On Saturday the town marks the 700th anniversary of Bannockburn in its own way with a Wallace Day being held in Delves Park and the surrounding streets.
This all-day free festival will include craft and food stalls in the aptly-named Market End while, in the adjoining park, mediaeval entertainments will be laid on including archery, falconry, weapons displays – known in the old days as Wappenschaws – and battle re-enactments.

Organised via the Community Council, the event has the aim of being a non-political celebration of the town and the man who became its most famous resident, William Wallace.
